Palermo street culture is one of the most interesting aspects of the city.
The colours of the products shown at the markets are nicely combined with the multi-coloured murals on the walls.
The tour is established to showcase a vibrant creativity of artists and vendors mixed with ancient traditions and an authentic culture.
The meeting point will be in front of the steps of the opera house “Teatro Massimo”.
We will walk through Capo Market where we can taste the main specialties of the Palermitan street food such as “panelle and cazzilli” (chickpea fritters and potato croquets).
Through the narrow alleys of the markets are hidden interesting murals that by nature constantly change, which in turn, means that the tour also changes and evolves.
We will arrive at Vucciria Market, very popular among the young people as it’s an open-air street art museum.
We will taste more specialties at the kiosks of the main square and see how the food and the art change their skin from one district to another.
The final destination will be Ballarò Market, the most ancient and the multicultural of the city. It’s an interesting reality as many no-profit organisations involved the citizens in the redeveloping of the area. It is the perfect place where to taste the traditional street food and drink in the authentic taverns.
